Morning All-
Wanted to provide a quick update on this. NRPA has been working diligently on this topic over the past week and think I might have a bit of good news. Our friends at the National League of Cities (NLC) have found a Supreme Court case that would open up Treasury to lawsuits if they limit the State Stabilization Fund ($150 billion) to cities over 500,000. I have attached the letter that NLC sent to Treasury on the topic.
Treasury is weighing their options and we should know more in the coming days. This puts Treasury in a tight place, so we are hopeful they will avoid lawsuits on this topic and make the fund available areas under 500,000.
Either way, NRPA will be working with NLC and other groups to ensure either these funds or future founds are made available to areas under 500,000. I will continue to post updates in this forum.
