BECOMING AN AFO

The Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) program is designed for pool operators and management staff in aquatic facility operation and management. Certification can be achieved by passing the AFO Certification examination. The examination is fifty questions AFO examination, with a score of seventy-eight percent (78%) or better.


Course Materials will be mailed to participants 2-3 weeks prior to the start of the course and will include: course manual, slide rule and handouts.

Information Security: 

AFO candidates must register with a work or personal email address belonging to only them.  A generic "info@" or similar email address will not be supported. All communications, course links, and course exam results will be sent to the approved email address.  

Important Information: 

  • Registration deadline is 30th day prior to course start date: July 12, 2021
  • Refund Requests: deadline is 45th day prior to course start date: June 28, 2021 
  • Registration Transfer Requests: deadline is 45th day prior to the course start date:  June 28, 2021  - requests must be submitted in writing to admin@azpra.org
  • Cancelation Requests: deadline is 90th day prior to course start date: May 14, 2021 
  • Registration changes/transfers cannot be made after the date indicated.
  • No shows and last minute cancellations are responsible for full payment of registration, as APRA is required to provide a guaranteed number of participants in advance. Refunds will not be processed after the date indicated.
  • The Force Majeure Clause shall apply to all APRA event registrations.  No-show attendees who fail to attend scheduled course forfeit all paid registration.

Due to the pandemic, APRA staff is working from home; therefore, all payments must be processed on-line using a credit card or P-Card at the time of registration. Beginning August 2020 all event registrations must be paid in full with a credit card at the time of registration. Any registrations without a valid method of payment at time of registration is considered incomplete and will be automatically removed from the event.
