DOJ GRANDFATHERS PARKS FOR ADA COMPLIANCE! (NOT!)
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is more than 33 years old, and some people have a hard time separating myth from fact. Are playgrounds grandfathered, and need not be compliant? Does every existing site have to be accessible? Do agencies have to provide inclusive recreation? Is it true that new trails must be accessible? Do recreation staff have to hold and dispense prescription medication? Golf courses don't need a single-rider golf car, right?
This 3-hour session will answer these and other questions that help agencies better serve their entire community, and lead in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
